I began my undergraduate career at Stanford University. My home called me back to Minnesota where I obtained my BA in biology from the University of St. Thomas in 1998. After a stint in the biotech industry, I began my graduate work at the University of Minnesota, working towards an MPH in Epidemiology. The University of Wisconsin--Madison called to me. I earned my PhD in Microbiology in 2008.

After a semester of tutoring, I was asked to tutor on an individual basis. After college, I took on jobs at Huntington Learning Center and Lee Education Center in MN as a means to supplement my income and eventually aid in paying for work towards a graduate degree. After 2 years at Lee Education Center, I was attending school full-time, TAing at the University of MN, working at the MN department of Health AND tutoring 30 hours a week. My passions range from playing pickleball, watching college sports, and reading the classics.. I enjoy biking, boating, kayaking, and hiking in this paradise of coastal NC! My free time is not only spent outdoors but also with family and friends. I moved to Madison in 2002 when I began working on my PhD in Microbiology at UW. After my PhD, I worked as the interim director of the UW biotechnology outreach program, BIOTREK, and then pursued a career as a professor at both Carroll University and Edgewood College; however, I found myself yearning for learning in an environment that reflected my own values of mindfulness, support, respect, individuality, and fun! Since 2022, I have found myself living in paradise and seeking to work with students in the southern Brunswick County and Myrtle Beach area.
